What it costs, with a worked example
You pay two things, and both are settled directly against your payout. As a rule you will not receive an invoice to pay. If a chargeback exceeds your payouts, we invoice you for the amount.
1. The commission: 7.5% of the net value of the products you sell, that is the sales price without the VAT it contains. Shipping costs are not part of the basis. VAT is charged on the commission, and its rate depends on where you are based (see Taxes); for a brand based in Germany that is 19%, which you can deduct as input tax if you are entitled to do so. Per €100 of net revenue that is €7.50 commission and, for a German brand, €8.93 withheld. You receive a commission invoice for both, marked as already settled; issued invoices are listed under Settings ▸ Commission invoices.
The basis is the price your customer actually pays. Creator discount, sale price, referral discount and redeemed referral credit reduce it before the commission is calculated. If you grant a discount, the commission goes down with it.
2. The payment fee. The payment provider's (Stripe) fee for your customer's payment, passed on as incurred, without markup. It depends on how the customer pays, not on where you are based:
| Customer's payment method | Fee (list price) |
|---|---|
| Consumer card from the EEA (the usual case) | 1.5% + €0.25 |
| Corporate card from the EEA | 2.8% + €0.25 |
| Card from the United Kingdom | 2.5% + €0.25 |
| Card from outside the EEA/UK (e.g. USA) | 3.15% + €0.25 |
| iDEAL, Wero | €0.29 flat |
| Bancontact | 1.4% + €0.25 |
| BLIK, EPS | 1.6% + €0.25 |
| Przelewy24 | 2.2% + €0.25 |
| Multibanco | 2.95% + €0.25 |
| SEPA Direct Debit | €0.35, €3.50 on a failed debit |
The local payment methods apply where they are enabled on the marketplace.
If a purchase contains products from several brands, the fee is charged only once for the whole payment. It is then split between the brands involved in proportion to their payouts, including the fixed part. Your deduction is therefore smaller than the table value.
Worked example
€35.00 product + €4.90 shipping, brand based in Germany, 19% VAT, card from the EEA, commission 7.5%:
| Amount | |
|---|---|
| The customer pays | €39.90 |
| less payment fee (1.5% + €0.25) | −€0.85 |
| less net commission (7.5% of the net product price of €29.41) | −€2.21 |
| less VAT on the commission (19%) | −€0.42 |
| Your payout (gross, after 14 days) | €36.42 |
| of which VAT on your sale (you remit it) | €6.37 |
| left to you net | €30.05 |
Why the effective deduction is higher than the commission rate
On top of the commission come the payment fee and the VAT on the commission. You can deduct the VAT as input tax, but not the payment fee, and that fee depends on the payment method:
| Customer's payment method | effective deduction | after input tax deduction |
|---|---|---|
| iDEAL | 8.7% | 7.4% |
| Card EEA | 10.4% | 9.1% |
| Card UK | 11.6% | 10.3% |
| Card USA | 12.3% | 11.1% |
The more of your customers pay with inexpensive local methods, the less you give up. Enabling those methods is in your interest, not just ours.
