Publishing products
You publish products yourself. There is no prior review by the marketplace: as soon as you list a product on a marketplace, it is visible in the shop there immediately. How your products get into the Seller Center depends on your path.
With Shopify
- Sync products. Under Sync you fetch your active products with variants, prices, images and stock; there you also fetch shipping regions and your store's details (name, email address, links to terms and privacy policy). The sync puts nothing live; what runs where, you decide per product afterwards. Changes to prices and stock arrive from your store automatically later on.
- One marketplace per product. From the product's category we derive the marketplace it can run on; the product shows "Category on …" and the button List here. If no marketplace can be derived from the category, you choose it yourself; we look at a self-chosen assignment before the product goes live.
- Withdrawing is possible at any time with "Running, withdraw". The product disappears from the shop but stays in your Seller Center.
You cannot add anything by hand here: a product without a counterpart in the store would have no price and stock maintenance at the next sync.
Without a shop system
You add your products directly under Products: name, price, weight, image, category and variants. Without a price nothing can be sold, without a weight no weight-based shipping rate applies. From the category we derive the marketplace as with Shopify. If you delete a product, it disappears from every marketplace it runs on.
What is checked before going live
An automatic check makes sure that all mandatory details are complete, for example your return address, your verified VAT ID (see Taxes) and the manufacturer of the product (see below). If something is missing, the product cannot be published, and you are told what is missing. Set up shipping first, see Shipping and orders. If your brand is not yet approved, the listing is noted and goes live as soon as the approval is there.
For a product to appear to creators as well, it additionally needs a commission commitment, see Discounts and creators.
Manufacturer, net quantity and warnings
Under Products there are two cards for details that product law requires and that no shop system supplies.
- Manufacturer per product. For every product you enter the manufacturer, address and email address. If the manufacturer is based outside the EU, a responsible person in the EU is added. Without these details the product does not go live. If you are the manufacturer yourself, one tick is enough; we then take legal entity, address and support address from your profile. Whoever names themselves as manufacturer is also liable as manufacturer. "Apply to all products" writes the same details into all your products. For every order we record which details applied at the time of purchase.
- Net quantity and warnings. From the net quantity (for example 250 g or 500 ml) the product page calculates the unit price per kilogram or litre and shows it below the price. The quantity applies to all variants of a product; if your variants differ in it, leave both fields empty, and no unit price is shown. Warnings and safety information (at most 2000 characters) appear on the product page next to the manufacturer, in the language you enter them in. Both are optional as long as they are not required for your product. Whether they are is decided by the law, not by the Seller Center (see guidelines for brands).
Removal after the fact
The marketplace can remove an active product after the fact if it violates the guidelines for brands, with a reason that you receive by email. The product then disappears from the shop but remains visible in your Seller Center as "Removed", with the reason. You can complain against the removal, see Complaints and the figures on them.
We also receive notices from outside: every product, review, catalogue page and advertisement on the marketplaces carries Report, which leads to the reporting form. A report is not yet a decision; we review it, and a person decides. You can use the same route to report a review that breaks the marketplace rules or the law. There is no entitlement to have an admissible critical review removed.
